Our SCSS Coaches

 

Gina Valenzano-Gomez

Head Coach
Synchronized Skating


Gina is a native of Stamford. She has a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Maryland.

Gina
has been a part of the Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating Teams since they began. As a young skater, Gina skated on the Shadows.

She is a United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) Gold
Medalist in Moves in the Field, USFSA Novice Freestyle, and USFSA 5th Figure Test. Gina also has her Level One Hockey Certification.

Gina has been teaching skating since 1989. In April of 1997 Gina did the
skating for a feature story on Oksana Baiul which aired on Dateline NBC. Gina has been the head coach for the Teams since 1997.

She is an active member of the USFSA and PSA. Gina is a private skating coach and
also teaches group lessons at various area rinks.

 Kari Pace

Assistant Coach
Synchronized Skating

Kari also has a long history with the Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating teams and skated with the Shadows.

Kari is a
United States Figure Skating Association Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field and has her Intermediate Freestyle test.

Kari also is a private skating coach and teaches at many of the area rinks. Kari is a native of
Stamford.

Val Legutko

Assistant Coach
Synchronized Skating


Val has been involved with the Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating teams for 19 years.

Val started
as a skater on our teams working her way up to the Shadows level. She is a United States Figure Skating Adult Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field.

She is a native of Stamford. Val graduated in 2003 from Sacred
Heart University.

She is a private skating coach and also teaches at various area rinks.
